Nancy Sirchis is a watercolor artist who resides in the Sarasota, Florida area. She spent most of her life in the Northeast, raising a family while working as an accountant. Her introduction to painting was via her first watercolor set and brushes as a young girl, a gift from her father. Thus, began her love affair with water color painting, first as a casual hobby and now a full-time passion. Her paintings show her love of color and light. She is most happy with a brush in hand and a challenging plan for a painting in her head.
She works primarily with watercolor, her paintings are known for the vibrant, almost iridescent color she uses to create mood and a sense of place. She has traveled the world, capturing varied landscapes, birds, flowers and foliage, as well as local people from her travels that appear in her paintings to date. Her style is that of a realist painter. The simple joys of children playing on a beach come alive for the viewer. Similarly, the intense complex details of a peony and hydrangea still life appear with such clarity it looks like a photo.
Nancy continues to hone her craft, participating in workshops and exhibiting her work in various venues in the Northeast and the Florida watercolor community. She has shown her work in the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society and the Florida Watercolor Society. In 2019, she achieved Signature Status in the Florida Watercolor Society.
